Actor in Law has been one of the most outstanding movies Pakistan has produced in the post revival of its cinema. No doubt, the movie was a good attempt in the given circumstances. The glaring aspect was the cast which did marvels in making the movie a hit.
While we may debate over the delivery of dialogues and standard of script to an extent, but the miraculous acting of Om Puri was a stunner. Beyond imagination of anyone he translated the role of a common Pakistani Muslim professional cum breadwinner into such a reality that it didn't seem unobivious for a Pakistani to relate it to a common household story where parents press on their children for something contexual and conservative while the kids of the new era want to embark upon something different.
Before I go adrift, let me focus on the title of the text. Om Prakash Puri was one of the most talented actors of the Hindi Cinema. His admirable roles in Hindi movies are par excellence where delivery of dialogues and matchless expressions earned him respect for his acting. Apart from Hindi movies, he has displayed excellent skills in English movies and serials. Those who have not witnessed his acting skills should watch him.
The legend died in January 17. His demise was a great tragedy and there's a lot of conspiracy theory around it. Whatever the cause may be, his loss is a great loss for the movie lovers who acknowledge and appreciate good acting. With his demise, a chapter of natural talent has closed, a story of success has ended and a maestro is off the field.
My friend and childhood fellow, Imran Raza Kazmi is into movie production for more than a decade now. He has a lot of talent for talent-hunt. I once expressed to him my feeling regarding diminishing Pakistani Culture in the recent revival of the Cinema and urged him to pay heed to it in his remarkable projects. He not only endorsed but has put in efforts to that effect. Today I would urge him once again to help promote actors who have the guts to be Om Puri Sahib in the future. InshaAllah Pakistani cinema is bound to progress with the kind of talent putting undaunted efforts in reinstating it.
