Frankenstein's Monster?

It wasn't until a couple of days ago that I heard what is the title of today's blog. A frankenstein's monster! Really? Monsters, like the one created by Frankenstien, which later turned up against him as described in a gothic novel written by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, are easy to find in the real world.

When we carry out a study of today's world we see them more often. In our days if one takes a look at the international, regional and national political landscape, one identifies monsters of various kinds. Take an example of Taliban, who in the beginning were called Mujahideen, can be termed as a Frankenstein's monster for the US. Afterall it was the US who created these groups for their holy war against the Soviets and once the job was considered done, they left them at their own. Hence came to fore a new face of Mujahideen contesting for power in a battlefied abandoned by the US. The US called the shots once their monster turned up against them. Hence, without doubt, the US started taking action against thier protégés once the abandoned lot became their bête noir.

Now the US is trying hard to negotiate with its monster after a long war in Afghanistan. Her involvement in this quagmire was never a heedful decision. The faultlines coupled with alienation of a major ethnic group of Pashtoons were never welcome. Anyhow, due to mysterious conduct of talks in the past, now it seems the US really wants an escape from a grimmer situation. Afterall this monster is her own creation which turned up against its very creator.
