In a recent tweet by an influential journalist-cum-anchor, Talat Hussain, the Prime Minister was personified as a failed experiment. Now if he was really a doomed leader, why our people reposed their trust in him in the first place? If he were a stooge of the international powers, won't he have submitted to their free will? And had he been chicken-hearted, would he have the gumption to speak so openly on heretical issues in the UNGA?
If we look at the betterment he has engendered so far from the statistics, we would find him doing a great job. And factually, he is rated as one of the most influential leaders of the world and some consider him a star in the leadership firmament. But perhaps our pseudo-intellectuals, however boorish, still level serious recriminations against him on personal and political grounds. Since we are a nation akin to having an illiterate mindset, we hear more, act less and react violently to a given unverified information. The assiduous performance of the govt coupled with its genuine belief in erasing poverty and unemployment actually merits more applause than berating it on some issues it's been unable to address due to extenuating circumstances at hand.
One of the aspects for which the govt is under severe criticism is the unstable economic situation. There is no denying that the situation is not as encouraging to be referred as a paragon but it is still the resolve of the govt to desist from shock treatment of the economy as practised by previous regimes. The outrageous contempt of its policies by funded mouthpieces at media is deplorable though. Those of us who have some basic knowledge of how the economies are manipulated would know the tricks played out by money-lending organisations wherin the flight of dollar-based capital from target countries is facilitated by bigwigs - and propagated by paid media houses - to bring resilient nations to their knees. Then, once the poor of these nations cry in pain inflicted by increasing prices, high taxes and low wages, govts per force have to ask for bailout packages which in turn redouble the burden of debt on the same poor people. The present govt's resolve in taking serious steps deserves encouragement and we must acknowledge its efforts by repudiating fake news/anchors who are ever-ready to obfuscate facts for illusions.
In order not to be biased, we should also not gloss over the mistakes our govt is making. But to be honest, the present govt is one of the best we could ever have had in our history. It is just a matter of time to see the outcomes flow out. Till then we just have to wait for the tide of mistrust to ebb as it looms over us against our wishes.
There is no doubt that imran khan is a great leader, compared to the rest of the leaders who had five years of poor government but Pakistan certainly needs a new direction, a new strategy. The youth, the poor and the downtrodden deserve better. The common man is not excited about observing Kashmir Day sympathising with their cause is fair and justified but he is more worried about his falling income, his children’s education and healthcare and the agonies of poverty that he confronts on a daily basis. In Naya Pakistan, these are issues that should take centre stage. I hope this government will solve all the problems soon. Iam highly optimistic that one day Pakistan will be on the path of success (INSHALLAH).
